palmOne, Inc. encourages all owners of the Tungsten T3 who plan to use SD cards at any time to upgrade their handheld using the software update below. This update aids in the transfer of data to certain SD cards, in addition to other updates.

palmOne recommends that you reformat your SD card after applying this software update. If the card has been or continues to be unresponsive after taking both of these steps, please contact the SD card manufacturer directly as there are problems with the card beyond palmOne's control.

The T3Update.prc is a software update for the Tungsten T3 handheld which, in addition to aiding in data transfer to SD cards, reduces unnecessary audio interrupts which may appear to effect performance.

• Palm Tungsten T3 Handheld

1. Ensure that your Tungsten T3 handheld is fully charged and has at least 20 Megabytes of memory available. Click here if you need instruction on checking available memory. If you do not have 20 Megabytes of free memory available delete some unused files/applications or see the Alternate Installation method.
2. Perform a HotSync operation to backup the data on your handheld.
3. Download the T3Update.zip (6.2MB ZIP) file.
4. Extract all the files using a standard unzip utility. Note the location of the directory/folder the file is extracted to.
5. Launch Palm Quick Install on your desktop computer.
6. Select the correct user name from the User list.
7. Select the Add button.
8. Locate the directory/folder noted in Step 4 above and select all the files in the directory/folder to add to the Palm Quick Install Tool. Ensure you install the files to the handheld and not to an expansion card.
9. Place your handheld in the cradle and synchronize your device to your computer, the Palm Tungsten T3 Update will be installed on your handheld.
10. On your handheld device launch the T3Update application from the launcher screen.
11. Follow the on screen instructions on your handheld to run the update. Your device will automatically reset after the update.
12. Place your handheld in the cradle and HotSync your device to your desktop computer one more time to complete the update.
13. Once this HotSync operation is complete. Delete the 'T3Update' application from your handheld using the Delete function from the Handheld Application panel.

3. Download the T3Update.sit (5.7MB SIT) file.
4. Your web browser should automatically expand the file and you will see the appropriate .sit file appear on the desktop (or in your default download folder). If your web browser does not expand the file automatically, you will need to use an expanding utility (such as Aladdin Stuffit Expander) in order to decode the .sit file. Note the folder location.
5. Launch Palm Desktop or HotSync Manager.
6. From the HotSync Menu select Install Handheld Files…
7. Select your username from the drop down menu.
8. Locate the folder noted in step 4, above, and select all files in that folder.
9. Drag & drop these files onto the Install Handheld Files… window. Ensure you install the files to the handheld not and expansion card.
10. Place your handheld in the cradle and HotSync your device to your computer, the Palm Tungsten T3 Update will be installed on your handheld.
11. On your handheld device launch the T3Update application from the launcher screen.
12. Follow the on screen instructions on your handheld to run the update. Your device will automatically reset after the update.
13. Place your handheld in the cradle and synchronize via HotSync your device to your desktop computer one more time to complete the update.
14. Once this HotSync operation is complete. Delete the 'T3Update' application from your handheld using the Delete function from the Handheld Application panel.
